Before you vote, do yourself and your county a favor by recalling some of the headlines from The Herald over the past few years: “Lawyer seeks $2M over property for now-shelved courthouse” (10/14/15); “County Council delays vote on hiring freeze” (9/17/15); “Cost overruns, location, parking needs put courthouse on hold” (8/31/15); “Issues over raises for county officials unresolved” (12/26/14); “County council members already worried about 2015 budget” (8/14/14); “County to condemn land for new courthouse”(6/25/14); “Tax hike likely needed to pay for new courthouse” (9/23/13); and “Surprise $1.6 million added to courthouse cost” (6/14/13).
These headlines are a result of failed leadership at the county level. It’s up to us, as voters, to hold our elected officials accountable. If we turn a blind eye to the failures of the past few years, we’ll just get more of the same.
Our county government is broken and it’s going to take fresh perspectives to get us back on track. Greg Tisdel will bring a no-nonsense approach to our county government. His leadership experience in business, countless boards and commissions, and in serving our community with non-profits is exactly what is needed to restore confidence in our county government. That’s why Greg Tisdel is supported by such a wide spectrum of individuals. Greg Tisdel has accomplished much for our community as a citizen; he’ll be even more effective working to fix government from within.
