The second edition of the WHL Power Poll as voted on by media members came out today and you can find that here.
Your Everett Silvertips dropped two spots in the Western Conference to No. 5. That being said Prince Albert tops the Eastern Conference poll which makes the Tips’ 5-2 victory over the Raiders on Oct. 11 look all the more impressive.
We’ve got more on new Everett forward Dario Winkler in Wednesday’s paper the Tips prepare to face his old team, the Brandon Wheat Kings, in a mid-week match-up at Xfinity Arena. Winkler spent time Tuesday skating with the line that includes Matt Fonteyne and Patrick Bajkov today. Head coach Kevin Constantine said afterward that Winkler has a “better than 50 percent chance” of playing against his former team.
Sean Mallonee continued to wear a red jersey Tuesday and told me he won’t play Wednesday as he continues to recover from a separated shoulder, but hopes to return by the weekend. Mallonee is the only Silvertip player listed on the WHL’s weekly injury report. Brandon forwards Ty Lewis and Tim McGauley are each listed as week-to-week with upper body injuries while Stelio Matteos is attending the U-17 Challenge.
