IRVING, Texas — Dallas Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said Wednesday that running back Darren McFadden will start Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks.
On Tuesday morning, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said on KRLD-FM that McFadden had earned the opportunity to start after he rushed for 152 yards and a touchdown on 29 carries in Sunday’s loss at the New York Giants.
“You’re always looking for guys to grab the opportunity and embrace it and go,” Garrett said. “One of the things that we need to do as coaches is to give guys different opportunities and see who is going to do that.”
McFadden hadn’t had more than 10 carries in a game for the Cowboys before Sunday. He received more of an opportunity because starting running back Joseph Randle left the game in the first offensive series after only two carries because of a strained oblique muscle that has plagued him since training camp.
