Bridge to open soon
Everett’s Broadway Bridge will reopen by the end of the year, three months earlier than planned.
City Engineer Ryan Sass told the City Council on Wednesday that a combination of good design, good work by contractor Interwest Construction Inc., of Burlington, and ideal weather for construction allowed the structural and paving work to be completed this summer and fall.
What’s left includes installing signs and lights, marking lanes, and closing the detour route. A pedestrian detour may remain in place while the city installs fencing and other aesthetic elements. Sass said that the project is coming in well within its $13.6 million budget.
