SEATTLE — Seattle’s Alaskan Way Viaduct will be closed Saturday and Sunday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. for semi-annual inspections.
Since the 2001 Nisqually earthquake, the Washington Department of Transportation has stepped up inspections and worked to reinforce the structure while a replacement tunnel is built.
During the past few years, transportation officials have noticed ground settling in the area.
