The Game
How badly did the Tips need this win? Granted it’s a long season and it’s only Nov. 1. But Everett has to feel a bit of a burden lifted after Cole MacDonald scored with less than a minute to go to avenge Friday’s heart-breaker.
The Tips had won just once in their previous five games and have struggled to find goals despite creating plenty of shots. While that still remains a problem (they haven’t scored more than two goals in a game since a 5-2 win over Prince Albert on Oct. 11) they scratched out enough to ride their defense to the victory Sunday.
Goaltenders Carter Hart and Adin Hill reprised their respective roles as spoilers with both recording more than 20 saves. That’s shaping up as quite a netminding rivalry.
Brian King opened the scoring with his first career goal late in the second period. Keegan Iverson tied it 35 seconds into the third period with his 100th career WHL point.
Three Stars

2. Everett D Cole MacDonald: Scored the game-winning goal with less than a minute to go in the game.
3. Portland D Blake Heinrich: Had an impressive assist on Iverson’s goal.
