SNOHOMISH — Saturday’s flooding had mostly receded by Sunday afternoon as rivers continued to drop below flood stage.
The National Weather Service kept the Snohomish River near Snohomish under a flood warning until Monday afternoon. The river crested at 26.7 feet at 9 a.m. Sunday, but had dropped to 25.8 feet by 2 p.m.
Flood stage is 25 feet, and which point the river would be expected to cause minor flooding in low-lying areas not protected by levees and on the Old Snohomish-Monroe Road.
Lt. Brian Zehe of Fire District 4, which serves Snohomish, Lake Stevens and parts of Monroe, said there was still some water over that roadway underneath the railroad trestle just south of town.
The river was expected to continue to fall below flood stage overnight.
