Thursday’s highlights on TV include:
“Mom”: The Season 3 opener of this hilariously irreverent sitcom tears open some old wounds for Bonnie (Emmy winner Allison Janney), who gets an unexpected visit from her estranged birth mother (Oscar winner Ellen Burstyn). It turns out that mommy dearest, who gave Bonnie up when she was 4, wants to reconnect, and she’s been lugging lots of emotional baggage around all these years. At least Christy (Anna Faris) is eager to meet her. 9 p.m. Thursday, CBS
Season 4 of “Elementary” finds Sherlock (Jonny Lee Miller) under increased scrutiny, thanks to his recent relapse. Arriving to check up on him is his estranged father, Morland (John Noble). Don’t expect a joyful reunion. 10 p.m., CBS.
“I Love Kellie Pickler”: If you do, this new show might be for you. 10 p.m., CMT.
