STANWOOD — The Spartans managed to edge out the Wildcats in a semifinal at the 3A District 1 tournament on Thursday night to move on to Saturday’s championship match and clinch a state tournament berth.
Grace Sears (18), Devon Martinka (13) and Haley Strowbridge (10) all had double-digit kills for the Spartans in the win.
Claire Anderson recorded 20 kills and 3.5 blocks in defeat for Oak Harbor.
On Saturday, Stanwood will face undefeated Shorewood, which swept the Spartans earlier in this season. Stanwood won the remainder of their Wesco 3A matches after that defeat.
Both teams will advance to the 3A state tournament.
Oak Harbor will face the Glacier Peak Grizzlies in a loser-out game on Saturday. The winner of that match will play for third place and the district’s third and final state tournament berth later Saturday.
