EVERETT — The Timberwolves’ offense came alive in the second half of the 4A District 1 championship match on Thursday night, scoring three goals in the final 17 minutes of action to overcome the Knights and earn the district’s top state tournament berth.
After a scoreless first half, Tylor Adcock scored on a set-piece header just after the break to give the Knights the lead.
Jackson coach Jesslyn Kellerman said she didn’t get the reaction that she was looking for following the Kamiak goal, so she inserted an second striker atop the formation to create more chances.
It paid dividends, as Drew Locknane scored in the 63rd minute to tie the match, and return to momentum to the Timberwolves.
Jadyn Edwards beat a defender into the 18-yard box and beat the goalkeeper to the far post in the 72nd minute to put Jackson ahead to stay.
Kylie Tisdale added a third goal five minutes from time for Jackson, who beat Kamiak in the district championship for the second consecutive season.
“Any time we beat Kamiak it’s going to be a good night, especially when it’s for a district championship,” Kellerman said. “They’re a great team.”
Kellerman said Jackson will play the winner of Saturday’s Issaquah-Union match in its state tournament opener next weekend.
Kamiak will play Lake Stevens at Saturday in a loser-out contest, with the winner taking the district’s second and final state tournament berth.
