SHORELINE — Shorewood remained undefeated this season advancing past Ferndale in straight sets in a 3A District 1 semifinal.
Delaney Hopen had 17 kills for the Thunderbirds, who will play Stanwood in the championship match on Saturday to determine state tournament seeding.
“Something just turned in the first set and they just decided to win tonight. This team’s chemistry is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced before. It’s all clicking and working right now,” Shorewood coach Jen Chartrand said. “This team has a maturity and positive relationships with each other that brings a sense of calm confidence. I think it comes from senior leadership and the team is very determined that nothing will interfere with their goals. When they play relaxed and have fun they are a really good team.
Last year Shorewood won the Wesco 3A regular season title, but crashed out of districts with a pair of losses.
“This year the girls are really focused on their job and playing well. I am just really proud of these girls and how they have set their mind to making this a great season,” Chartrand said.
