Oct. 24 marked the 28th annual Puget Sound Festival of Bands, the day that over 1,500 marching band students from as far away as Oregon and Idaho converged on Everett to compete and entertain the hundreds of friends, family and community members present. This event is the main fundraiser for Cascade High School Band and Color Guard Boosters and helps keep the instrumental music program at Cascade supported by providing instruments, travel, uniforms and meals for event days.
This event takes about 200 volunteer shifts to pull off and countless hours of preparation and cleanup. As our stadium is located in such an urban area, we have to impose on and rely on the city of Everett and many businesses surrounding the stadium to help provide safe places for all the buses and support vehicles to park and the band kids to warm and stage before performing. On behalf of the CHS Band and Color Guard Boosters I would like to thank a few individuals in particular including Greg Tisdel and all his tenants for graciously allowing the continued use of this property, Everett Police Officer Mike Bernardi who has been protecting our marching bands as they cross Broadway for several years, Reliable Security, Platt Electric, Graybar, Everett Brake and Clutch Supply, Everett Downtown Storage, Birch Equipment and many, many more community members and businesses that make this festival possible each and every year!
