The Forest Service is looking for volunteers for the Eagle Watchers Program along the Skagit River.
Volunteers will staff information stations near eagle viewing areas along the Skagit River and look at eagles through spotting scopes while educating the public about bald eagles and the river system. This is the 23rd year for the Eagle Watchers Program.
Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. You can volunteer by yourself or with friends and family. Applications are due by Nov. 13 and can be found at https://skagiteaglewatchers.wordpress.com/2014-application.
For more information contact Erica Keene at erkeene@fs.fed.us.
Volunteers must attend a two-day training on Dec. 5-6 and commit to three Eagle Watcher shifts.
Eagle Watchers will run Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 12 through Jan. 31, 2016.
The public information stations are located at Howard Miller Steelhead Park in Rockport, Milepost 100 on Highway 20 and at the Marblemount Fish Hatchery.
