PORT ANGELES — Olympic National Park officials say they’ll close six areas of the park Thursday ahead of expected heavy rain and high winds.
Officials said in a news release Wednesday the Hurricane Ridge, Sol Duc, Hoh, Mora and Quinault areas in the park will close no later than 5 p.m. Thursday and may close earlier depending on the weather. The Kalaloch Campground also will close by 5 p.m. Thursday.
Olympic National Park Superintendent Sarah Creachbaum says the closures are meant to prevent weather-related injuries and accidents.
Those visiting the park in the next few days are asked to call the park’s roads and weather hotline at 360-565-3131 before traveling.
