Back home: The Gothard Sisters, a popular Edmonds-based trio, will perform at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Historic Everett Theatre, 2911 Colby Ave. The sisters, who specialize in Celtic, folk, classical, Americana and their own original tunes, perform several times a year in Snohomish County, but spend most of the year touring around the country. Nature and music The Winterlings will perform at a free show at 9:30 p.m. Saturday at The Anchor Pub in Everett. Wolff Bowden and Amanda Birdsall make up the band. A connection between nature and music is prominent in The Winterlings’ lyrics and style, which could be described as Americana folk. Read more in our story.

Busy critters: Learn about beavers at 7 p.m. Friday at the Northwest Stream Center Auditorium in McCollum Park, 600 128th St. SE, Everett. Includes a showing of the IMAX movie “Beavers,” a presentation on beaver habits, habitat requirements and physiology, and viewing of a beaver dam on North Creek. Free, but donations are appreciated. Call 425-316-8592 to reserve a seat.

New life for guitars: Painted guitars and ukuleles will be auctioned to support the purchase of new ukuleles for students at Mount Pilchuck Elementary School in Lake Stevens. The “upcycled” painted instruments can be viewed from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at a “GuitART” fundraiser, $15, luncheon at Buck’s American Cafe in Everett. Beth Whitney and Aaron Fishburn, members of the local band Banner Days, will perform. Read more in our story.

Holiday feeling: Three gingerbread house workshops are planned at Country Village in Bothell on Saturday. You can make a house to take home or enter it into a contest. All ages. Workshop is $35 and includes all the materials you need. A wine walk is also planned on Saturday and Santa’s reindeer will be visiting. Get more info here.

Whales: The Langley Whale Center will celebrate the grand opening of its new location from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at 115 Anthes Ave, Langley, Whidbey Island. There will be music throughout the day and staff will be available to answer questions. Refreshments, free posters and whale tattoos for kids will be available Nov. 14 and Nov. 15 at the center.
