The Edmonds-based Gothard Sisters are back in Snohomish County at 8 p.m. Nov. 14 with a concert at the Historic Everett Theatre, 2911 Colby Ave. Tickets are $30, available by calling 425-258-6766.
The sisters, who specialize in Celtic, folk, classical, Americana and their own original tunes, perform several times a year in Snohomish County, but spend most of the year touring around the country. They recently returned from their autumn East Coast tour.
Along with the show in Everett, the band’s annual Christmas concert is set for 7:30 p.m. Dec. 10 at the Edmonds Center for the Arts.
In July at the Tim Noah Thumbnail Theater in Snohomish, Greta, Willow and Solana Gothard celebrated the release of their new Celtic folk CD “Mountain Rose.”
The Gothards operate independently of any music label, preferring a do-it-yourself approach by self-producing their albums, live shows and music videos.
In March 2015, their music video covering “Scarborough Fair,” made famous by Simon &Garfunkel, reached more than 1 million views on YouTube.
While growing up in Edmonds, the Gothards each studied classical violin with the late Lawrence Fisher.
Their mother, Lark Gothard, is of Irish descent and got her daughters interested in Irish step dance and traditional Celtic musical instruments.
The Gothard sisters sing, play violin and are championship dancers. Greta also plays guitar, bass, cajon, percussion and keyboards, Willow has mastered the mandolin and Solana plays the bodhran, djembe, various other percussion instruments, autoharp, dulcimer and whistle.
The Gothard Sisters won the coveted “best new Irish artists” title at the Irish Music Awards in 2013.
