NISQUALLY — A U.S. Coast Guard helicopter crew has rescued a duck hunter who became stranded on a sandbar in the Nisqually area north of Olympia.
The crew hoisted the man to safety Saturday night after other local agencies were unable to reach him or his boat by water or on land. The crew transferred him to Lacey firefighters.
Petty Officer 3rd Class Amanda Norcross said Sunday that no injuries were reported.
The hunter departed from the boat launch at Nisqually South Puget Sound Wildlife Area. His sister-in-law called authorities around 7:30 p.m. to report that he was stuck.
