8 p.m.: Apparently, the 8 o’clock hour is the new garbage can for terrible sitcoms. ABC and CBS certainly seem to think so, dumping “George Lopez,” “Freddie,” “Still Standing” and “Yes, Dear” there, hoping we wouldn’t notice. Fox’s “That ’70s Show” is trying to hang on without its biggest stars and “Stacked” is actually the best bet among the half-dozen shows listed here.

It’s a good thing no one will notice those, because the dynamic divas, Martha Stewart and Tyra Banks are squaring off. Stewart’s “The Apprentice: Martha Stewart” on NBC and Banks’ “America’s Next Top Model” on – I told you! – UPN are the ones to watch. “One Tree Hill” is a good enough show, but can’t contend with these heavyweights.
9 p.m.: Speaking of heavyweights, ABC’s “Lost” reigns supreme here. UPN’s “Veronica Mars” is another great bet. NBC’s “E-Ring” is a “West Wing”-style drama that takes us inside the Pentagon. Fox’s “Head Cases,” about a couple of lawyers (Chris O’Donnell and Adam Goldberg) who just checked out of a mental “wellness center,” could be fun.
The WB’s “Related” is painful to watch, and CBS’s “Criminal Minds” is a new drama about an “elite squad of FBI agents … blah, blah, blah.” Just once I want to see a new drama about “a completely ordinary and average squad of FBI agents.”
10 p.m.: If want to watch “Lost” on the mainland, stay tuned for “Invasion,” about some aliens that invade people’s bodies in Florida. If you prefer Big Apple crime, there’s “Law &Order” and “CSI: New York.”
