CAMANO ISLAND — An investigation continues into the death of a man whose body was pulled from a house fire on Camano Island on Wednesday.
An autopsy was planned for Saturday, Island County Coroner Robert Bishop said. The man’s name was not being made public until his identification can be scientifically confirmed.
The cause of death also remains under investigation. The process can take months before a conclusion is made.
The fire was reported at 11:17 a.m. Wednesday at 844 Sundown Lane.
“This case may need follow-up laboratory to work to confirm the identification and cause of death,” Bishop said Friday.
Island County sheriff’s deputies and the Washington State Patrol crime lab were investigating the cause of the fire, along with the Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s office. No new information was shared by police on Friday.
