Darrington athletes added to local hall of fame
Darrington alumni, teams and former coaches are being added to the Darrington School District’s Hall of Fame for athletics Saturday. The event starts at 6:30 p.m. in the Darrington High School Auditorium and is open to the public. Those recognized are Becky Nations, Mandy Powell, Hayes Nations, Terry Cloer, Reed Miller, Walt Robinson, Clarence Caspers, the 1980 girls softball team, 1939 football team and members of the Girls Athletic Association from 1939 to 1949. The oldest athlete graduated with the class of 1949 and the youngest graduated in 2009.
Pancakes for charity: A Norwegian pancake breakfast is to be served from 7:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday at Ebenezer Lutheran Church, 2111 117th Ave. NE. Cost is $5; children younger than 4 are free. This month’s breakfast benefits Eastern Washington wildfire victims. More info: 425-334-0421.
Clothing drive: Bring unwanted textiles for a Clothes for the Cause fundraiser to benefit the Everett High School Class of 2016, 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Everett Downtown Storage, 3615 McDougal Ave. Clothing, shoes, purses, belts, household items are needed. More info: 425-239-6478.
