Grange donates dictionaries
For a dozen years Tualco Grange members have given a free dictionary to each third-grader enrolled in one of Monroe’s public schools. That’s more than 5,000 dictionaries, according to Leslie Wells, one of the grange members volunteering with the program.
“Words for Thirds” is a national program supported by granges across the country.
“We tell the children that they are our future leaders and a dictionary is an excellent tool for them to have for their learning and future service to the community,” Wells said.
