EUGENE, Ore. — Authorities say a female bicyclist has died in a collision with a Lane County deputy driving a patrol vehicle in Eugene.
Oregon State Police say the deputy was driving north just after 9 p.m. Thursday on State Route 99 south of Beltline Highway when he struck a woman on a bicycle.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say preliminary information indicates the bicyclist was wearing dark clothing and had no rear light on the bicycle.
Oregon State Police are investigating along with the Eugene Police Department and Oregon Department of Transportation.
The woman’s identity has not been released.
