The author of “The Book of Dog Magic: Spells, Charms &Tales” will talk about the book and sign copies at the book store, 17171 Bothell Way NE, Lake Forest Park. “Enter the realm of dog magic, where you’ll develop incredible relationships with your canine friends that allow you to know what your dogs are thinking, see through their eyes, heal physically and emotionally through your spiritual bond with them.”

Isabella DeLeone and Marley Kaul

Noon to 3 p.m., July 17, Uppercase Bookshop

Isabelle DeLeone will join her grandfather Marley Kaul at the shop for a book signing. Kaul wrote and illustrated “Letters to Isabella.” The book features Kaul’s egg tempura paintings, each paired with a letter to Isabella, who will be a seventh grader at Centennial Middle School in Snohomish this fall. The shop is at 1010 Second St., Snohomish.

7 p.m. July 18, Third Place Books

The author will talk about “The Fire Line: The Story of the Granite Mountain Hotshots and One of the Deadliest Days in American Firefighting” and sign copies of the book at the book store, 17171 Bothell Way NE, Lake Forest Park.

Rebecca Huycke Ellingson

5 to 8 p.m. July 21, Edmonds Bookshop

Ellingson will talk about her book “Forty Years Master: A Life in Sail and Steam,” the true story of a 19th century ship’s captain, Daniel Killman, and his more than 40 years on the high seas. Killman was shipwrecked off Coos Bay, discovered gold in Alaska, lost a mast in a hurricane near Fiji, lost a rudder en route to Adelaide, had run-ins with bureaucrats, officials and seamen, and found himself in court facing charges of murder. The shop is located at 111 Fifth Ave. S., Edmonds.

The former “Glee” star is back with the latest installment in his Land of Stories, this time with “An Author’s Odyssey.” Tickets are available at www.thirdplacebooks.com.
