Hardwick will be on hand to read and sign books at the Country Chic Shabby Boutique, 111 Glen Ave, Snohomish, until 1 p.m. that Saturday. Hardwick is known for her small-town stories that celebrate art and community in the Pacific Northwest. Her latest contemporary holiday romance is “Sweetheart Cottage.”

Ellingson plans to talk about and sign his book, “Paddle Pilgrim,” at the shop, 2615 Colby Ave., Everett. Ellingson, who teaches at Trinity Lutheran College in Everett and lives in Edmonds, paddled the entire Mississippi River in his kayak during the summer of 2012. He is a Lutheran pastor, a master gardener, former distance runner and triathlete and father of five grown children.
