I am absolutely appalled at the number of mostly conservative Republican politicians and others who seem to be questioning not only their moral obligations, but even their very faith in responding to the pure evil that is attacking not just us, but all of humanity, under the erroneous name Islamic State. Most of these people profess to be Christians. Many of them also complain that President Obama is not doing enough to fight ISIS. I have three questions for them:
1: Do you really believe that Jesus would turn His back on thousands of people in desperate need to escape this evil (or even just one for that matter) because some of them might wish Him harm?
2: Can you think of a more profound victory for this evil than causing good people to question their moral obligations, their unity, and even their faith?
3: Has your faith in God’s protection so abandoned you that you’re willing to give this evil the satisfaction of knowing they have you running scared and abandoning the very principals of life, liberty and freedom that this country was founded upon and that this evil would destroy?
We cannot and must not run, hide or ignore. On the contrary, we must confront it, head-on. We are not at war with a bunch of people but with an ideology. Yes, we must deal with these people by all means possible, but to ultimately win this war we, the free peoples of this world, need to prove that we are what we profess to be.
