Regarding the letter, “Paris attacks underplayed”: Please come to reality and give The Daily Herald recognition for what it is: A valuable, trustworthy and competent local daily newspaper, serving Snohomish County first.
As a 40-plus year resident of Lynnwood, I have come to treasure and respect this local news organ (it is the first read of the two dailies to which I subscribe.) For example: In the Nov. 20 paper, I am gratefully informed, thanks to reporter Chris Winters, Buzz writer Jon Bauer, and Shirley Morales-Mora, my current Herald carrier, et al, of the Page 1 article, (where it belongs), “PUD still at work on power.”
Currently, I’m planning to celebrate Thanksgiving with in-laws who are years-long residents of Monroe. The above-mentioned article includes a notice of the passing of Grant Strinden, 23, who was killed when his vehicle was crushed by a falling tree. News, via The Herald, will enable me to empathize with my in-laws’ loss of a fellow citizen. This same article quotes Sultan Fire Chief Merlin Halverson saying, “I’m extremely proud of the people who work here.”
When Tim Albers suffered serious electrical burns and was transported by ambulance when conditions were too windy for a helicopter otherwise available for the flight to Harborview’s burn unit.
I found the letter writer’s remarks inappropriate. Is she telling me I should look for news of Snohomish County on Page 299 of my copy of The Wall Street Journal?
