SEATTLE — A burglary suspect fled from Puyallup police by jumping in the Puyallup River and later showing up at a stranger’s home asking for help while clad in only underwear and boots.
The Seattle Times reported that early Thursday police were alerted to a burglary in progress. As officers went to contain the area two men drove off in a pickup truck.
Officers followed the pickup and watched both men get out at the Puyallup River overpass. One man jumped into the river. After a search by air and boat, officers found what were believed to be the man’s clothes on the riverbank.
Officers say the man appeared at a stranger’s garage in only underwear and boots. The stranger gave the man clothes and drove him home where he was arrested.
