PORTLAND, Ore. — A train collided with a vehicle in Eastern Oregon, killing three people and a dog.
Oregon State Police Sgt. Kyle Hove says the Union Pacific train was traveling eastbound Tuesday in Union County when a Jeep Cherokee turned into its path. Everyone inside the vehicle was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene.
The train stayed on the track and nobody aboard was injured.
Hove says the rural crossing south of La Grande has crossing signs and a stop sign, but does not have gate arms.
He says the investigation remains active.
