The Game
Eventually we’re going to run out of superlatives for how this Silvertips team continues to win games. Everett did it again Friday as the Tips overcame a late 2-1 deficit with Remi Laurencelle’s second power play goal of the game, and won it in overtime with Cole MacDonald’s goal.
The Tips still have yet to lose a game in overtime although they are 0-2 in shootouts. They got another strong effort from goaltender Carter Hart, and held the high-scoring Rockets to two goals. It’s worth emphasizing again that this Rockets team has four of the five players it was missing last week when Everett beat Kelowna twice. However, the Rockets are without their top goaltender for at least two weeks.
Everett has now won four straight following a second half-opening defeat to Vancouver and maintained a three-point lead over a Seattle squad the Tips will play Saturday in Kent.
The Turning Point
Three Stars
1. Everett F Remi Laurencelle: The 20-year-old scored two goals and assisted the game-winner.
2. Kelowna D Cal Foote: The Rockets D-man assisted both of Kelowna’s goals.
3. Everett G Carter Hart: The reigning WHL Goaltender of the Week had 26 saves to earn the victory.
