YAKIMA — The water outlook is good for the arid Yakima Valley this summer.
The federal government says December storms have helped ease drought concerns.
The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation says the region’s five reservoirs and mountain snowpack are about 25 percent above normal.
The Yakima Herald-Republic said it is too soon for the bureau to make formal water supply forecasts for the coming season. But it may signal that last year’s drought will not return.
A wet December helped the system bounce back after drought conditions left reservoirs well below normal in October.
The long-term forecast calls for more average levels of precipitation over the coming months.
