Joanne Davis of Lynnwood writes about a rough ride on westbound 196th Street SW (Highway 524) in Lynnwood, particularly at the intersection with Scriber Lake Road. A new signal was installed there, one of the Transportation Benefit District projects.
“I realize there was a project and digging up was part of that but my issue is the poor paving job,” Davis writes. “It’s terrible. I have to practically stop to go through the intersection.”
Thankfully, this is not anyone’s idea of a final paving job.
Another project in the area has crews working on the roadway. New pavement is several weeks off.
“The construction and pavement disruption she is referring to is in connection to our new Lift Station and Force Main 16 project,” said Julie Moore, a spokeswoman for the city. “Finishing the project is weather dependent. They need to have a stretch of weather above a certain threshold for the new pavement, so we are anticipating to get this completed in March.
“Our contractor can go in and make some temporary improvements to help with drivability, but for now drivers should use caution when traveling this area,” Moore said.
