Seahawks coach Pete Carroll naturally had a lot to say during his final podium of the season Monday afternoon at the Virginia Mason Athletic Center. I’ll deal with a lot of that stuff in the coming days. However, here’s a few important tidbits:
– Carroll declined to speculate on any roster situations for next season. That included whether running back Marshawn Lynch would be back, the contract situations with strong safety Kam Chancellor and defensive end Michael Bennett, or what the plan was with any of the team’s free agents. He did say, however, that he liked the team, suggesting Seattle would like to re-sign its free agents if possible.
– Carroll was asked about his own contract situation, as he’s only signed through the 2016 season. His response was stolen from Lynch: “I’m in great shape. Thanks for asking.”
– The Seahawks also signed several players to futures contracts, making them eligible for Seattle’s 90-man roster for training camp. Most of the players were on the Seahawks’ practice squad. They were:
RB Brandon Cottom
DB George Farmer
WR Deshon Foxx
WR Antawn Goodley
DT Justin Hamilton
DB Stanley Jean-Baptiste
WR Douglas McNeil
C Drew Nowak
OL Will Pericek
DB Robert Smith
DE DeAngelo Tyson
