Carmen Carpenter of Lynnwood asks: “Why are the car dealerships allowed to park their trucks in the turn lanes along Highway 99 (between 164th and 188th) in order to unload vehicles? Shouldn’t this be done on their own property? It seems to cause a bit of confusion on a regular basis. Isn’t this considered a no parking area? Or does it depend on how much money you are worth or the size of your company?”
Julie Moore, a spokeswoman for the city, responds: “At this time, the city does not have a policy or law against car dealerships unloading vehicles along Highway 99. Our traffic engineer, Paul Coffelt, currently asks that car dealerships use the proper traffic control devices such as cautionary signs to alert drivers that there is work being done ahead. At this point we are asking for voluntary compliance from our local dealerships.”
