EVERETT — A two-alarm fire caused more than $100,000 damage to a home in south Snohomish County Sunday night.
A man living in the 13600 block of Beverly Road reported the fire around 9 p.m. Sunday.
“He reported he had been heating bacon fat on the stove top and it had ignited, setting the kitchen on fire,” said Leslie Hynes, a spokeswoman for Snohomish County Fire District 1.
The man and his friend along with two dogs got out safely.
Firefighters rescued a cat, which a friend took to an emergency veterinary clinic to be checked for smoke inhalation.
When firefighters arrived, flames were coming through the roof, Hynes said.
Firefighters from Fire District 1, Fire District 7, Lynnwood, Everett and Mukilteo had the fire under control within 30 minutes. There were no injuries.
The fire left the house uninhabitable. The man has insurance and planned to stay with friends.
The Snohomish County Fire Marshal’s Office investigated the fire.
