KeyBank exec to serve as chair for American Heart Association campaign

Edmonds resident Carol K. Nelson, Pacific Region Executive and Seattle Market President of KeyBank, will serve as the 2016 chairperson for the American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women movement in the Puget Sound. Go Red For Women’s icon day is National Wear Red Day, Feb. 5, when everyone is encouraged to wear red to help raise awareness about heart disease in women.

Employment Security commissioner named president of national association

The National Association of State Workforce Agencies Board of Directors have announced that Dale Peinecke, Washington State Employment Security Department commissioner, has assumed the role of president, stepping into his new role one year earlier than expected. He was elected NASWA’s president-elect in October 2015 and has served as commissioner of the Washington State Employment Security Department since January 2013.

Competition held for $500,000 to revitalize a small town’s business core

Shark Tank’s Robert Herjavec is helping Deluxe Corp. give a $500,000 revitalization to one small town’s Main Street business district, and the transformation will be captured and shown in a video series this fall. From Jan. 11 to 28, nominations can be submitted at http://smallbusinessrevolution.org/main-street-revolution. Deluxe and Herjavec will announce the finalists during National Small Business Week, May 1 to 7.

State Revenue department makes it easier to obtain reseller permit

The Washington State Department of Revenue has made it easier for businesses to view or print their reseller permit. Businesses can now print their reseller permit directly from their online My Account via the Revenue website. Before adding this feature, a business needing its reseller permit had to contact Revenue and ask for a reprint to be mailed.
