The Everett Silvertips had the day off Monday as they traveled back from Alberta following Saturday night’s game at Red Deer.
They’ll be back at practice Tuesday, I’m told, but otherwise it will be a fairly light week before they play at Tri-City on Friday.
Goaltender Carter Hart and equipment guru James Stucky, however, will have a busy week as they’re scheduled to participate in Thursday’s CHL Top Prospects Game at Pacific Coliseum. The three-day affair actually starts with a media session Tuesday night (which I won’t be at) followed by practice and media sessions Wednesday (which I will). The game itself is Thursday at 6, and I’ll be there for that too.
Hart is playing for Team Orr while the man we call “Stucks” is working the equipment for Team Cherry.
So today is a good one for links, and we’ve got a few.
– Team Cherry will have a new captain… though he’s replacing a teammate. Spokane head coach Don Nachbaur tied the team record with his 223rd victory as head coach of the Chiefs.
– Mike Johnston returned to Portland last weekend.
– You might recall my story about the Everett Silvertips believing in rest. Several NHL coaches are of the same mind as the “morning skate” is going away.
Finally, I know I have been sporadic with the Monday poll, but this week’s is below:
