All about mushrooms
A presentation about which mushrooms to enjoy and which to avoid is planned for 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Camano Island Multipurpose Center, 141 N. East Camano Drive. The event, called “Wild Mushrooms: Fun with Fungi,” is put on by Island County Sound Water Stewards, with instructor Scott Chase, shore stewards coordinator for the county. He’ll go over common mushrooms in the area and which are edible or dangerous. He’ll also talk about how mushrooms have played into culture and mythology for centuries. The presentation is free and open to the public.
Hydropower update in Sultan: An engineer with the Snohomish County Public Utility District is scheduled to give a presentation on Jackson Hydropower Project at the City Council meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday. Information on the project, flood management, dam safety and emergency plans will be provided. PUD staff also will be available for questions about its work in the Sultan Basin.
Police to receive awards: The public is invited to the Lynnwood Police Department’s annual awards ceremony. Police Chief Steve Jensen will present awards honoring seven officers and staff.
The ceremony is set for 7 p.m. Monday in the City Council chambers at City Hall, 19100 44th Ave. W. A news release states, “Please join us as we recognize our local law enforcement officers and staff who work hard to keep Lynnwood safe.”
