EVERETT — Snohomish County’s Charter Review Commission is scheduled to meet on the first and third Wednesdays during the coming months, as they set about re-examining the structure of county government.
Upcoming meetings, all of them public, are scheduled for 7 p.m. Feb. 3, Feb. 17 and March 2 in County Council chambers on the 8th floor of the Robert Drewel Building, 3000 Rockefeller Ave., Everett.
Additional meetings are likely to be scheduled outside of Everett in March and April, said Mukilteo Mayor Jennifer Gregerson, who is serving as the chairwoman of the 15-member commission. A procedure should be in place soon for people to submit ideas for potential changes.
The commission also is seeking applications to fill a temporary job for a support clerk through the end of July, when recommendations for charter amendments must be forwarded to the County Council to review for placement on the November 2016 ballot. The position pays $5,000 per month.
Snohomish County is one of seven charter counties in Washington. The county adopted its original charter in 1980, amended it in 1986 and has reviewed it every 10 years since.
