The 2016 Washington Sportsmen’s Show opened its doors Wednesday and runs through Sunday at the State Fair Events Center in Puyallup. The annual event, the largest of its kind to visit the state, is a family-friendly showcase of outdoor adventure, education and the latest gear and technology — fishing and hunting, clothing, camping, sport-fishing boats, rec vehicles and more. If you’re planning a trip in 2016, top professional guides, outfitters and resort owners will be on hand to answer your questions.
The usual wide range of free fishing/hunting seminars is again available. For a complete list of days, times and presenters, visit www.thesportshows.com.
Other popular attractions being brought to Puyallup include the kids’ free trout pond, a 3-D archery range, the Lowrance Electronics Center, fly tying/casting, the “indoor river,” the cowboy fast-draw, significant elk mounts, a head and horns competition, and the popular camp cooking tent.
New this time around is the “$1 million Bi-Mart Ammo Sale,” offering a chance for hunters and shooting enthusiasts to stock up at big savings.
Hours are Thursday and Friday, noon to 8 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $12 for adults and $5 for juniors ages 6-16. Admission is free for children 5 and under.
