RICHLAND — Authorities say they have arrested a man who allegedly threatened to shoot children and police after an hourslong standoff in a Richland neighborhood.
The Tri-City Herald reported that Robert Wegner was arrested Wednesday and booked into the Benton County jail on suspicion of harassment and making death threats.
Authorities had responded to the home Tuesday afternoon when police say Wegner threatened to kill Richland officers as well as three neighborhood children, aged 12 to 14.
Capt. Mike Cobb said Wegner had barricaded himself inside the home. The Tri-City Regional SWAT Team eventually made their way inside after several hours.
Cobb said a police dog and a stun gun were used on Wegner, who was treated for injuries from the dog bites.
