The annual Sky Valley Community Awards Celebration is scheduled for 5 p.m. Saturday at Sultan High School. The event celebrates the people who improve their communities by working with service groups.

Learn about Dawson Place: The Woman’s Book Club of Snohomish County hosts a panel presentation with managers from several local agencies that help abused children and their families through Dawson Place Child Advocacy Center. The free presentation is at 1 p.m. Feb. 8 in the auditorium at the Everett Public Library, 2702 Hoyt Ave. A tour of Dawson Place will be offered after the presentation. Panelists include Providence Intervention Center for Assault and Abuse, Compass Health Child Advocacy Program, Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigation Unit, Snohomish County Prosecuting Attorney’s Special Assault Unit and Department of Social and Health Services Division of Children and Family Services.
AAUW group expands: The Edmonds SnoKing Branch of the American Association of University Women now partners with Shoreline Community College as well as Edmonds CC. Members next meet at 10 a.m. Feb. 13 in Room 2925 at the college, 16101 Greenwood Ave. N, Shoreline. Shoreline CC instructor Rachel David discusses “How Does Gender Affect the Conditions of Our Lives.” Guests are welcome. AAUW aims to advance equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy, and research. The SnoKing branch welcomes members from south Snohomish and north King county.
