Edmonds celebration
Help celebrate the purchase of Civic Field in downtown Edmonds during a signing ceremony at 10 a.m. Wednesday at 250 6th Avenue N. The city agreed to purchase Civic Field for $1.9 million from the Edmonds School District with the help of state and county funding.
Slow down: The Granite Falls Police Department plans to increase traffic enforcement around schools, “Over time, some of us need a reminder that school is back in session, and that kids need us to slow down to help keep them safe,” Chief Scott Robertson posted on the department’s Facebook page.
Meeting set: Everett’s Citizens Advisory Committee for Housing and Community Development has scheduled a series of meetings to draw up the city’s plan for Community Development Block Grant money and other funding sources. The meetings will be held at 4 p.m. each Wednesday starting Feb. 3 in the Community Development Hearing Room, on the eighth floor of the Wall Street Building, 2930 Wetmore Ave. A public hearing also will be held as part of the final meeting March 2.
Island County opening: The Island County Board of Commissioners seeks to fill three seats on the Conservation Futures Program Citizens’ Advisory Board. The group reviews and evaluates applications to acquire land or land rights in order to protect open space, farm land, shoreline and other types of properties in the public interest. Those interested in applying should send a letter of interest and statement of qualifications to Pam Dill at the Board of Commissioners by 4:30 p.m. Feb. 26.
