SEATTLE — Search crews have rescued a Seattle hiker who spent one night on Mt. Hood after he got lost hiking near the Palmer Glacier.
KOMO-TV reported that Christian Houck, 51, had called emergency personnel Monday night, reporting that he had some supplies and was in good condition. Russ Gubele with Mountain Wave Search and Rescue says the hiker had built a snow cave for shelter overnight.
A search plane located Houck Tuesday morning and rescuers guided him down the mountain.
Officials say Houck may have gotten off course while trying to make it to Timberline.
Houck says he wasn’t too worried. He says it had been a “beautiful night” and that he had plenty of food.
