EDMONDS — One man has been arrested and police have identified a second suspect as part of an investigation into a Tuesday robbery that ended in gunfire.
A Lake Stevens man, 22, was booked into the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of assault and robbery. The other suspect is a Marysville man, 21, last known to be driving a 2011 Volkswagen Jetta with a temporary permit in the back window.
The incident occurred around 1:52 a.m. Tuesday in the 17100 block of 67th Avenue W.
A Marysville woman, 19, had received a text asking that she pick up a friend of the family, court papers said.
That passenger got in the car but two other men approached and demanded belongings. When the woman struggled to keep her purse, she heard a gunshot.
During the confrontation, the friend got out of the car. He later was arrested by Marysville police Wednesday in an unrelated case. That man allegedly admitted he played a role in the crime, and that the suspect gave him the gun after the shooting.
The suspect managed to take roughly $400 from the victim’s purse.
As the woman drove away, she heard more gunshots.
The victim recognized the gunman as someone who had just “friended” her on Facebook, court papers said.
She showed detectives four “selfies” of the suspect holding a pistol and displaying cash, court papers said. The photos were shared by text after the robbery.
Police found several bullet holes in the woman’s car and a shattered driver-side window.
