The Game
The Everett Silvertips continued their strong showing against the Seattle Thunderbirds with a 4-1 victory Saturday night at ShoWare Center. The Tips haven’t lost to the T-Birds in regulation all season and hold an 11-2 point advantage in the standings. In case you’re wondering, the Tips have a nine-point lead in the U.S. Division.
The Tips have now build three-goal leads in consecutive games. They also held the T-Birds scoreless in three power play chances. None were bigger than the two kills in the final period, and Carter Hart had a big say in that.
“Your goaltender can make a difference,” Constantine said. “You can be bad killing and your goalie can make you look good, or you can be pretty good killing and sometimes your goalie doesn’t make a save. I’m not sure we did an unbelievable job killing. Carter made some huge saves (and) Dawson (Leedahl) had a huge block.”
Leedahl’s block may have come at a cost. He skated off to the locker room late in the final period with a hand injury and sounds like it could be fairly serious. Constantine said they’ll know more Sunday. In the meantime it sounds like recent 16-year-old call-up Bryce Kindopp might be sticking around for a while.
The Turning Point
Everett took a too many men penalty at 13:03 in the third period. Seattle had several quality chances, but the Tips managed to kill it off and Graham Millar scored on the offensive end right after returning to full strength to push the lead to 4-1.
Three Stars
1. Everett F Carson Stadnyk: The overager scored twice for Everett.
2. Everett F Graham Millar: Millar also scored twice for the Tips.
3. Seattle D Brandon Schuldhaus: Schuldhaus scored the only Seattle goal early in the third period.
