EvCC hires retired Everett police captain
Retired Everett Police Department Capt. Bill Deckard has been hired as program director to lead Everett Community College’s Public Safety programs. This area includes the criminal justice, fire science and EMT programs. Deckard, of Snohomish, has 40 years of law enforcement experience and led the Everett Police Department’s Investigations unit until his retirement in December 2015.
New executive director at Stanwood Community &Senior Center
Julie Vess, executive director at Safe Harbor Free Clinic in Stanwood, is leaving her position to take the same post at the Stanwood Community &Senior Center. She begins her new job on April 1. Vess helped launch Safe Harbor in 2009. At the Stanwood Senior Center, Vess will succeed Keith Yarter, who also serves as a Trustee on the Safe Harbor Board.
Home inspector recognized by company’s Founder’s Award
Bob Twaddle of Woodinville’s WIN Home Inspection was recently honored with the company’s Founder’s Award for extraordinary humanitarian service in his community. Twaddle serves in a community-based ministry through his church, works in a food bank and volunteers in other church-based endeavors. He ranks in the top 5 percent of customer service throughout WIN’s inspection base of 190 locations.
New community affairs coordinator hired at YWCA
The YWCA Seattle-King-Snohomish has welcomed Vicki Von Stubbe as community affairs coordinator for Snohomish County. Von Stubbe replaces long-time employee, Luanne Kunz, who is retiring after 15 years with the agency. Von Stubbe most recently served as a campaign executive for the United Way. Kunz’s legacy includes support for the Pathways for Women shelter in Lynnwood and establishing a successful Women’s Working Wardrobe in Everett.
