MOUNTLAKE TERRACE — In the three days since she went missing, neither the cellphone nor credit cards belonging to Cheryl DeBoer have been used.

Police, co-workers, family and friends spent Thursday continuing to search for clues into the disappearance of the Mountlake Terrace woman.

While volunteers took to the streets, technicians with the Washington State Crime Lab scoured DeBoer’s white Subaru Legacy, which was found near the city’s park-and-ride lot Monday morning.

DeBoer, 54, sent a text message to a friend around 7 a.m. Monday, saying that she forgot her work badge at home. She told her friend to go on without her.

Her friend asked how long she would be and told her she would wait.

DeBoer estimated it would take her about 10 minutes. She has not been seen or heard from since.

As of Thursday evening, no reward had been posted for information leading to DeBoer’s whereabouts, but there has been some discussion about that possibility, Mountlake Terrace police Cmdr. Kevin Pickard said. Many of the volunteer searchers are DeBoer’s co-workers from Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. Others are family and friends of DeBoer and her husband, Mike.

They are sharing photos and asking questions — not just if people might have seen her, but also if they noticed anything that struck them as suspicious near the park-and-ride Monday morning.

“We have been so happy to have so much help,” said April Randhawa, one of Cheryl DeBoer’s co-workers. “We are still really hopeful. We still miss her and we can’t wait to see her again.”

As has been their routine this week, volunteers plan to meet again at 6:30 a.m. Friday at the Civic Center at the corner of 232nd Street SW and 58th Avenue to blanket the area and hand out more fliers. Police have planned a 9 a.m. press conference at the Civic Center parking lot.

DeBoer’s co-workers have set up a Facebook page at www.facebook.com/findcheryl to provide updates and try to widen the search.
