BEND, Ore. — Authorities say two people have been injured after a Bend officer responding to an emergency call collided with another vehicle and hit a pedestrian before striking a doughnut shop.
The Bend Bulletin reported that Cpl. Rob Emerson and the pedestrian, Brian Zacher, 39, were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries after the Saturday crash. The driver of a pickup truck, who was hit by the police vehicle, was uninjured.
The Bend Police Department said in a news release that Emerson had been riding in a police SUV with his emergency lights and siren on when he entered an intersection and collided with the pickup. Emerson’s vehicle jumped a curb, struck Zacher on the sidewalk and crashed into the doughnut shop.
No one inside the shop was injured, but the building sustained damage.
