BOTHELL — An armed bank robber was caught Friday in a Lynnwood Fred Meyer after leading police on a short chase.
Investigators suspect that the Mountlake Terrace man, 46, also is good for a bank robbery in Lake Forest Park Thursday, Snohomish County sheriff’s Capt. John Flood said.
Friday’s robbery was reported around noon at the Heritage Bank in the 20600 block of Bothell Everett Highway. Police were told that the man had a gun and threatened tellers.
He was spotted leaving the bank on a bicycle, Flood said. Police received word of a suspicious van parked near the bank. Deputies spotted the van on 196th Street SW and attempted to stop it. The driver sped into the parking lot of a Fred Meyer, hopped out and ran into the store.
Police surrounded the store and arrested the suspect without anyone getting hurt. A witness saw the man toss what appeared to be a gun on the floor as he was running through the store.
The man was booked into the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of first-degree robbery.
