SEATTLE — A 21-year-old man accused of assaulting a University of Washington student he was dating has been charged with murder.
King County prosecutors charged Casey Henderson on Wednesday with first-degree murder in the death of 22-year-old Katy Straalsund.
Prosecutors said Henderson had been heard yelling at Straalsund Sunday afternoon before beating and strangling her to death.
Police responding to a disturbance call forced their way in and pulled Henderson off Straalsund after seeing her in a chokehold through a window.
Straalsund never regained consciousness and died at a Seattle hospital Tuesday.
Police reports say Henderson had been up all night high on LSD and became convinced Straalsund was plotting against him before the incident.
Henderson remains jailed on $2 million bail.
